The Reno-Tahoe Odyssey Relay Run Adventure is best suited for teams of 12 runners. Each runner runs 3 legs of the 36 segment course. But teams with less than 12 runners may participate. They’ll just need to run more miles.

Each team signs up in one of the following divisions and categories:

Divisions:

  • Open – all runners must be 16 or older
  • Masters – all runners must be 40 or older
  • Seniors - all runners must be 50 or older
  • Corporate – all runners must be employed by the same company
  • Club - all runners must be members of the same club, whether it be a running club, triathletes club, recreation/social club, adventure travel club or some other type of club

Categories:

  • Mens – zero to five women
  • Mixed – six to eleven women
  • Womens – 12 women

Prizes are awarded to the top team in each division and category. To be eligible for division winning prizes, runners must stay in order, e.g. the runner who runs leg no. 1 must also run leg nos. 13 and 25.

For Most Runners This Event Is All About Having A Blast.

Not everyone may be a competitive runner. But everyone must have fun. To that end, prizes are awarded to the most spirited team, the team with the "best" team name, the team with the "best" custom made shirts, and the team with the "best" decorated team vehicles. And don't forget to vote for the Most Spirited Exchange Point.  Many volunteers throw their own themed parties at the exchange points. This contest between exchange points adds to the fun experience that runners enjoy when they participate in the Reno-Tahoe Odyssey.

Individual Runners or Teams Looking For A Runner:

Please use the Forum to find each other. Click here to access the Forum which is located at the bottom of the home page. Individual runners should post their name, contact information, gender, age, a measure of your running speed, such as.8 minute mile or 45 minute 10K, and any preference for the type of team you want to be a part of, such as single gender competitive or coed recreational.  Team captains will review the list and contact you.  In the past every individual runner looking for a tream has been picked up or has formed a team.  One way or another you should get into the event.  If you are short runners but can get at least 6, it is easier to match you with another 6.  That is how the Chico-Truckee Connection came to be for the inaurgural RTO.

Hello! I am still riding the high of the Odyssey. What a fantastic race experience!

Sore calves: 5 miles moderate
Sore gluteals: 5 miles most difficult
To soar as a team: priceless

Thanks again,
